Organizing navigation
Pages and folders describe your documentation. Navigation determines how readers move through it.
Pages and folders
Imported Markdown files become pages. Folders can group related pages. You do not need to make every folder a top menu item.
In Settings → Pages, search by title or path to find a page. A page heading changes its visible title; a menu title changes its navigation label.
Hiding a page from navigation does not make it private. Hidden pages can still open by address and appear in search.
Top menu sections
Use Top menu and sections to choose the major destinations in the reader’s header. A section connects an existing source folder and its pages to a navigation destination.
Use Add section, choose an existing folder or page, and review the destination. Search the available choices instead of entering an unfamiliar source path. Set the menu title, placement, and section homepage as needed.
For a small site, one documentation section and a clear sidebar may be enough. Larger sites might separate guides from API reference.
Ordering and labels
Reorder sections to change their top menu order. Use page and folder settings to adjust the labels and ordering within a section.
Keep labels short and specific. Check pages with similar titles against their source paths before selecting a destination.
Save and check
Save navigation changes, then open the current site and follow the affected links. Settings apply to the retained current content; they do not import new Git changes or rewrite source files.
